Payson

For the second Memorial Day in a row, we went up to Payson for a soccer tournament. This time we only stayed with two other families. Each family had only boys, all about the same ages and the families have been friends for years.

This is some cattle we saw on the way up.

There was fire in Sedona that we could see from the highway. We were never in any danger, but the air did get a bit hazy.

When we got there, we went out to dinner at That Brewery. It was at the bottom of the hill.

We even had an extra guest.

The next day, we went to watch the big game at a local bar. The funniest part of the meal came when our friends asked for a pitcher. They brought the beer already poured, with about two tablespoons left in the pitcher. I do t think the waitress understood the true purpose of a pitcher.

The not so funny part if the meal occurred later when everyone who ate fries got food poisoning.

Here are our opponents for Sunday's game. This team and our team all play in the same league. Even though the guys were competitive, it was fun to play with friends.

The house was nice, and came with games and even a pool table.

Cooking the meals was a fun and cooperative event. My advice is to only rent houses with people who can cook.  It works out well, in my experience.

I know you are wondering why I took a picture of a box. Well it was discovered that a snake lives in there.  Only the threat of death and dismemberment kept the boys from opening it a second time.

The view from a trail out behind the house. Shawn and Kristof even saw some elk. I will add those pictures when I can.

It was a relaxing weekend and so fun to get away from the desert.
