America's Future. . .

In an attempt to be funny, I asked my students to spell my last name as a bonus spelling word today. I figured it would be a good word to use, since no one outside the family can spell it. And I also thought that the kids who were observant enough to realize that it was posted several places around the room could get a freebie.

Some students were disappointed when I clarified it was my last name I wanted them to spell. I walked by a student's desk in time to hear "Darn. I know how to spell 'Heather"".

The variations on the spelling were creative, to say the least. I have to say though, that I was tempted to give credit to the student who saw through all the B.S. and simply wrote: " Mrs. D".
