One of my students asked me why I had polka dots (freckles) all over my arm. Then she proceeded to try to rub them off.
I was going to tell her that I had it on good authority (Aunt Janny) that they were angel kisses, but I didn't want to make her jealous.

The Great Mohawk Compromise of 2012
Charlie really, really, really wanted a mohawk for his haircut this time. When he was done, he asked if he could at least gel it up so that it looked like a mohawk.
Wild Kingdom
The other day I went to pick up AJ at his school. This tree is located next to the roundabout that you drive in to pick him up. You will notice that there are bunnies and quail all under the tree together. There was a remote controlled plane flying nearby and my theory was that they thought it was a hawk.
As we drove out of the school, we noticed this guy poking his ears out from behind the plants. If you have never seen a jackrabbit's ears, you are missing out. They are probably as long as their body.
When we went to AJ's open house last week, we saw 3 jackrabbits run past, followed soon after by a coyote. I tried to snap a picture of he was too fast. Obviously, the eating is good here.

America's Future. . .
In an attempt to be funny, I asked my students to spell my last name as a bonus spelling word today. I figured it would be a good word to use, since no one outside the family can spell it. And I also thought that the kids who were observant enough to realize that it was posted several places around the room could get a freebie.
Some students were disappointed when I clarified it was my last name I wanted them to spell. I walked by a student's desk in time to hear "Darn. I know how to spell 'Heather"".
The variations on the spelling were creative, to say the least. I have to say though, that I was tempted to give credit to the student who saw through all the B.S. and simply wrote: " Mrs. D".

Child Labor For Children
I had AJ come and help me last week at school. And honestly, there is no way I would have been able to get ready in time without his help. He had a great attitude the whole time and was excited to help. But, I think I may have worked him too hard because he told me he was going to lay down for a minute and fell right to sleep.
Luckily, for me, he works for ice-cream. After eating a sundae larger than his head, everything was right in the world.
